Statement from Free Aafia Campaign (Pakistan) on the occasion of Independence Day:
"Dr. Aafia has effectively raised the value of every individual Pakistani citizen. It is the first time in the history of Pakistan, the PM and government has offered substantial legal assistance for an ordinary citizen. May we celebrate our freedom with her return and our government as a hero. Pakistan Zindabad."

$2 Million approved to hire lawyers for Dr. Aafia: Gilani
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday said his government has approved $2 million to hire a three-member lawyers panel in consultation of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui's elder brother. The prime minister was talking to Dr. Fouzia Siddiqui, Dr. Aafia's sister at the Prime Minister's House. The premier assured Dr Fouzia that the government would do its best to get the Pakistani-born scientist released from US detention. The PM informed Dr. Aafia's sister about the government's efforts, at all levels, to get Dr. Aafia released.
